Carlyle has historically approved the following UL listed (CFC) refrigerants for use in 5F and 5H compressors: R-22, R-500, and R-502 for use in 5F and 5H.
• Oil Charge: 21 Pints (9.94 Liters) (Note: Normal oil level in sight glass should rest at the center line.)
Castrol SW68 is approved for use in Carrier chiller applications as well as Carrier and Carlyle semi-hermetic compressors for air conditioning and medium temperature applications.
Castrol SW68 cannot be used in any new low temperature refrigeration applications using Carlyle OEM semi hermetic compressors. Castrol E68 is approved for use in Carlyle OEM compressors for low, medium, and high temperature ranges.

The following POLYOL-ESTER (POE) are approved oils for HFCs (Note: All HFC/POE applications require a crankcase heater).
