Vintage French Coin (Centimes) Cuff Links. Circa 1960/1970s. Exact date is uncertain since coins are glued in. Wrap around mesh with bullet back closures. Coin created by Henri Lagriffoul features portrait of Marianne, the national personification of the French Republic since the French Revolution. Marianne represents the national motto of liberty, equality, fraternity and reason. She is also a portrayal of the Goddess of Liberty. As “Marianne” was one of the most common first names in the 18th century it was used to personify the French people and the Republic.
